We would like to show our support to this great innovative project that you are participating in, and as such, we would like to provide you with the Waitaha traditional thinking behind this very beautiful stone that has been special to us. Waitaha believe that the white stone of Oamaru is in fact the bones of our Ancestress, Hine Tua Hoanga. She is our Tipuna who helps us to polish and to shape other stone, as well, she shelters us in her overhangings that help to give shape to the landscape of the Oamaru District.
